Rally Driving

For my birthday earlier this year my wife bought me a rally driving experience at the Bill Gwynne Rally School. It was great fun, though not quite what I had expected, ie steaming down forest tracks! Instead it was a dirt course around the corner of an airfield. We learnt how to do handbrake turns and slding the car around corners, but with only 1.5 hours available there was not much more we could do. The cars were Ford Escort Mk1s, old cars with only 120bhp, but light! They warned us about the heavy stearing, clutch and brakes, but I didn't even notice. Maybe some of these new skills will stand me in good stead in New Zealand!
